The racehorse shown is "Investment" who won the first German Derby in 1869. Note the old fashioned long stirrup “seat” of the rider. These stamps were only available at Hamburg P.O’s. The surtax was divided between Hitler’s Culture Fund and the race promoters. This race is for 3 year olds over a distance of 1½ miles, with prize money of 70,000 Mark ran at Horner Moor racecourse at Hamburg.
