106. - German soldier at the front line carrying a wounded comrade.
The front of this card depicts a German soldier at the front line carrying a wounded comrade. Color in sepia. The inscription below the picture reads "YOU are not important'. It is the FRONT that matters!" For the first and last time we had also an issue of stamps to commemorate this 94 event. The special postmark was used for three days in Cracow only. It depicts a gate tower of Cracow.
Fieldpost. The plain cards generally used by troops stationed in the General Government were the normal ones with spaces for name, rank, and fieldpost number. They had, however, an additional three line slogan at the bottom of the card: "We can never repay the sacrifice the soldier at the front makes. The sacrifices in the homeland must also be able to face history." This is a Quotation from Hitler's speech of the 3rd October 1941.
